After the sudden '
awakening' caused by Balzac's
Ursule Mirouet, Luo sets off to the Little Seamstress's village to tell her of the magnificent story he just discovered.
Upon hearing this strange and new tale of things so far away and unknown before, the Little Seamstress is "transformed and carried away by a dream". She was amazed and in wonder about all the things that could happen and did happen every day, but were never known to her before.
Later, Luo takes her the narrator's
jacket, on which he had written some of his favorite lines from Balzac.
"She ended up putting your wretched coat on... She said having Balzac's words next to her skin made her feel good, and also more intelligent" pg 62
