The narrator has shown himself to be a strong-willed young man who has been sent to be re-educated along with his best friend, Luo. The narrator is an amazing violinist who works his way through the rough process of being re-educated by playing Mozart and other uplifting songs. He endures the process by retelling stories of movies with Luo as well as
playing the violin. He has proven himself to be a great friend of Luo and a boy who will never lose hope even during a time when there is little to hope for.
