The Old Miller
Luo and the narrator go up to the old miller in order to obtain a book from Four-Eyes. They trick him into making him think that they are Chairman Mao's men. This is the beginning of the plot, and shows how persistent they are for the books. The old miller also sees them later in the plot, and catches Luo doing something very private. Being a friend of theirs, he keeps it a secret. They go to visit him, but he is sick. The old miller played a very special role in the book, the role that started the chase.
