Saturday
The next morning was a Saturday. He woke up to the sound of Margo
closing the door on her way in. He went back to sleep for a few hours.
In
the meantime Margo and Hedda cleaned the place up. There were beer cans
on every flat surface—and even some teetering on the edges of uneven
ones. Hedda and Margo kept finding cans, and they kept pouring them out
in the sink. They couldn’t understand why there were so many cans
around. They guessed there had been at most fifteen cans left in the
box before the party.
They heard a woman's laugh coming from
Colin’s room. When he got up to go to the bathroom he looked like a
ruffled peacock, his hair was everywhere. As he was going back to his
room, Margo asked Colin if he had bought more beer before the party. He
just shrugged his shoulders, which she took to mean no.
