Present:

While the boys are upstairs talking, Willy goes to the basement to get some cheese. While in the basement he begins to talk to himself about the past, which the boys comment on. They are surprised by the fact that their father so openly and loudly talks aloud of what he is thinking about, which happen to be memories from the past.
