Willy tells Linda that is fearful that she may be disappointed in him. He is no longer the salesman he once was, he doesn't provide for the family the way he once did, and he certainly isn't the father or husband he used to be. This is a particularly vulnerable side of Willy that Linda is able to see, and Linda is probably the only person that Willy unveils this side of his personality to. Linda accepts Willy for who he is.
Present:
At the same time, the boys, Willy and Happy, are upstairs reminiscing about the past. The boys are home together for the first time in a long time. They talk specifically about the state of affairs in their own lives. However, they also talk about the state of their father's mental health/well being.
