Perfecting audio

Upload your MP3 to a "Podcast" folder in your My Files.

In the description box for your MP3, copy the first sentence from your blog, then type "read more," and make this into a link to your blog post.

See How to set up your podcast files in Youth Voices or the Personal Learning Space.

  1. 1. Record a blog post -- or talk about it -- using Audacity, and export it as an MP3 using Lame. Be sure to fill in the ID3 tags properly.

  2. 2. Go to the Your Files button on Youth Voices or Personal Learning Space, and open your "Podcasts" folder. (If you don't have a Podcasts folder yet, Create a new folder called Podcasts, and make the Access Restriction: Public.)

  3. 3. Scroll down to the Upload a file box.
    • 3.1 Browse and find your MP3.
    • 3.2 Give it a one-word File title.
    • 3.3 Change the Access restrictions to Public.
    • 3.4 Add 5 or more Keywords. (word, comma, space, word, comma, space)
    • 3.5 Check the box to say that this is your work. Click Upload.

  4. 4. Return to the post related to your podcast in Your Blog.
    • 4.1 Copy the first sentence.
    • 4.2 Click Post a new entry. Paste the first sentence in the Post body box, then add these two words in parentheses: (read more)
    • 4,3 Title this post, "Temporary." Change the Access Restriction to Private, then Post.
    • 4.4 Right-click on the title of the blog that is related to your podcast, and Copy Link Location.
    • 4.5 Edit your temporary, private post. Highlight the words (read more), then click on the link icon.
    • 4.6 In the pop-up box, paste the URL of the post title that you copied in step above. Target = Open link in new window. Insert.
    • 4,7 Click the HTML icon, and find the HTML Source Editor. Highlight and copy everything in that box.
    • 4,8 Close the HTML Source Editor, save the temporary post, then delete it.

  5. 5. Go back to edit your MP3 in the "Podcasts" folder in Your Files.
    • 5.1In the File description box, paste the HTML that contains your first sentence and the link to your blog post.
    • 5.2 Hit Save, then go back into your Podcasts folder, find the file again, and test the (read more) link. This should take you back to your blog post.

  6. 6. Now you will want to embed this file at the top of the blog post itself.
    • 6.1 Edit the post, and add a line at the top. Be sure to leave your cursor at the top left of the Post body box.
    • 6.2 Move down to where it says ROOT, and click in that box. You should see the one-word File title that you created above.
    • 6.3 Click on your File title, then click the Add button. Check to see something like this at the top of your post {{file:56}}
    • 6.4 Click Save Post button at the bottom, and a player should appear.
