Almost 20,000 concentration camps were set up at the time of the Holocaust. The primary function of these camps was to hold Jew for extermination of mass murder. The concentration camps that the Jews were placed in were surrounded with barbed wire and tall fences. Each family had a box that they were placed in. sometimes the Jews were illegally killed.  Each day the Jews were worked very hard and sometimes worked to the death. They were punished and whipped daily. These people placed in these camps were starved, under exhausting labor conditions and high to low temperature ranges. Almost 6 million Jews were killed in these camps.
