Alternate Ending

It was around 6pm two days after Daisy's hit and run with Gatsby. Gatsby was waiting in his car in the driveway, serenely smoking a cigarette. A gray figure emerged from the mist across the lawn toting a large bag. Daisy had neglected to put any make-up on; she simply did not care.
    "Do you have everything?"
"We can always buy more things when we arrive at the hotel."  Daisy had barely opened her mouth.
Gatsby tossed the cigarette out the window. "I was thinking we could go to the Cotton Club before we leave New York... What do you think?"
"I think that would be fine, but we should invite my dearest Nick. You know, I haven't said goodbye yet."
Gatsby mumbled "Old Sport," and pulled out the driveway. Daisy turned around and gazed at the grand house until it was out of view.

Dust flew into Tom's eyes through the open window of his jet black Ford Model T as he raced down the dust road stopping for nothing.  He knew he had arrived at his destination when he saw the raw iron gate shielding the great Gatsby's fortress behind it.  He pondered the thought of turning around, but instead he went to find his wife.  After the gate opened slowly, he paced down the long driveway toward the house in search of Daisy.  Just as the mansion in West Egg came into sight, Tom saw no sign of Gatsby's car.  It was then he realized it was too late and he had lost Daisy forever.  Tom stood there emotionless, as the rain poured down on him.  Deep down he felt almost relieved that Daisy would no longer be a burden on Tom and his desired life.  He stood still in Gatsby's driveway for a moment while he thought of all the great times he shared with his wife.  Slowly, he turned around and walked down the driveway in the pouring rain toward his car.

Gatsby parked his car in the spacious lot of the Cotton Club.  Daisy seeming very uninterested got out and shut the door.  They both walked to the entrance in silence.  After having a few drinks, they both seemed to loosen up and laugh together.  Gatsby had his hand on her leg and she flipped her hair back and forth to acknowledge him.  The new couple was just warming up to each other as the completely unexpected walked through the door.

Tom and George Wilson casually entered the Cotton Club.  As Tom acknowledged some of his old friends, George froze at the sight of Gatsby and Daisy.  As Tom slowly turned to see the two of them, the expression on his face didn't change.  The two men were walking in the direction of Daisy and Gatsby when they both simultaneously walked directly passed them.  Daisy's face showed pure heartbreak and regret as the two walked by without acknowledgment.  Daisy got up to chase the love of her life and she paced after them.  As she called out his name Tom turned around with an unsympathetic look on his face and casually turned back to George, totally ignoring his wife.  Extremely hurt by this Daisy stormed out the doors of the Cotton Club in complete hysterics.

By the time Gatsby got up from his seat at the bar, it was too late.  Daisy was gone.  She had run away.  She didn't want to be with Gatsby and she couldn't stand to be without Tom.  It took six months for Daisy to resurface.  By this time, Tom was living on the west coast with now four year old daughter, Pammy.  Gatsby had moved to England and was now teaching at Oxford.  He was still alone.  Daisy had been stayig with Jordan for the time being, and everyone was now going their separate ways.  Now, what used to be the tangled and misunderstood lives of seven lost adults, was now six different stories that lingered in the past.
