The First to Go

Though Tom pleaded with George, George was still unconvinced. He continued to ramble in incoherent sentences. He looked physically ill. When the opportunity presented itself, Tom grappled for the gun. He appeared tentative as he reached, afraid that at any moment it might discharge. George's hand receded instinctively and he fired one round. Tom was still, he was stunned that George had actually fired at him. George felt the power that he had once lost resurge back into him. Tom, now helpless and on his knees, begged for his life.
"I'll give you whatever you want," Tom pleaded, "Just name it. Money, maybe that blue car."
Unpersuaded, George pulled back the hammer and fired. Tom collapsed on the ground. George was emotionless afterward. He stood his ground, like a statue, as the rush of masculinity corsed through his body.
The butler ducked his head back behind a door, but was able to see Daisy running from her room.
