Throughout the book, Gatsby was used for his money and people attended his elaborate parties without thanking him. These people mostly came from West Egg and they had no respect for Gatsby or any of the other East Eggers. Nick Carroway recieved Gatsby's money and the same things happened to him. Jordan steals the money Nick recieved at his party and runs off with it, proving that Jordan was just using Nick to get to his money. The story shows how money corrupts people and how people will go to any extreme even if they have to lie, to get more money. Both Gatsby and Nick learned that money does not buy happiness.
