A week since Gatsby was shot, I went over to see Daisy to tell her
what had happen. When I knocked on the door, there was no answer. I
peeked through the window and the whole house was
completely empty. I
knocked on the door one more time when, finally, Tom and Daisy's
servant answered the door. Her servant had told me that Daisy and Tom
had packed up everything they own and moved to Europe. I was puzzled
and did not know what to say other than "thank you for letting me
know." I asked her "Do you know where in Europe?" She replied, "
in
France but I do not know where in France." I quickly went over to
Gatsby's house to tell Gatsby's servant that Daisy and Tom had moved to
France because I was not sure if I should break the news to him. Gatsby
overhearing what I said to the servant became extremely angry and was
in a state of rage. Gatsby ran to his bar and grabbed a
bottle of
whiskey from the shelf. He merely stared at the green light across the
bay as he continued to take big swigs of the whiskey.
Reminiscing on
his memories with Daisy, he realized if he couldn't have her nobody
could.
