As the death of Gatsby traveled many people were heartbroken but didn't show it. What was the real reason why peoples hearts were broken? Was is it because there will be no more parties? Or was it because of his death? When I met his father it made me think of some things. It made me think why didn't Gatsby ever talk about his father. He seemed like a
nice man to me and seemed like he cared but I still couldn't fathom. All day I telephoned people of his death, but still nobody came. The funeral went on and there were only a few guest and servants. After the funeral I went back west to find comfort and relief. While in west egg I saw Tom outside walking down the street going into a store. I tried to avoid him as much as possible, but he saw me. He turned around to shake my hand but I did not lift not one finger in his direction.
I knew that Tom was the one that told Wilson about what happened that night and who was driving the car, but in a way I knew what he said was wrong because Daisy was the one driving. As I stood there listening to him speak I interrupted by asking about Daisy. He said "she was fine but was depressed about Gatsby". After saying this Tom laughed to himself and said "he had it coming", so I blurted out that Daisy was the driver and that it wasn't Gatsby's fault. Tom's whole facial expression changed and he gripped me up and called me a liar. I said no I'm not a liar I told him the story and now he understood. He had remembered Daisy's reaction to Mr Wilson and it all made sense. I asked to talk to her and he walked away as if he was in a rush to get somewhere so I followed without him knowing.
