EPILOGUE

Quite a few years later, I received a letter sent from Nice, France. A letter from Daisy, and what I preceded to feel after I read the letter was the urgency to visit. Her writing expressed feelings of regret, anxiety, and utter contempt for herself because the memories of both, Myrtle and Gatsby's deaths were disquieting, to say the least. Tom still did not know that she was the one who hit Myrtle and Gatsby was innocent, and Daisy had urges to confess to Tom but never did. He loved her more sincerely after the whole fiasco; I think he was hurt to find out that Daisy still felt for Gatsby and realized that he really loved Daisy.
In shaky letters, Daisy noted how happy she was to be married to Tom and how well things are going between the two.
I replied encouraging her to tell him that she was driving Gatsby's yellow car the night of Myrtle's death. I always resented Tom but I knew that their marriage was always going to be a shame because of her secret. But she refused. The guilt wasn't strong enough to make Daisy confess. I don't like to meddle in situations which I don't belong, but this was certainly a different situation.

Or that's what Tom had thought. Daisy only loved Gatsby because of the past and his money. Now that she has moved on, she only feels guilty that Gatsby had died when she was the one who had killed Myrtle.
